CAPITALSTARS- INDIAN EQUITY MARKET OUTLOOK UPDATE – 20 FEBRUARY 2020

MORNING MAIL

Trends on SGX Nifty indicate a negative opening for the broader index in India, with a 43 points loss or 0.35 percent.

Sensex closed 429 points, or 1.05 percent, up at 41,323, while Nifty ended 133 points, or 1.11 percent, higher at 12,125.90.
The rally was broad-based as midcaps and small-caps also jumped, outperforming the benchmark Sensex. BSE Midcap and Smallcap indices rose 1.34 percent and 1.41 percent, respectively.

Global Market:

Asian Markets: – Asian stocks edged up on Thursday, supported by a fall in coronavirus cases and expectations of more Chinese stimulus to offset the economic impact of the epidemic, while the Japanese yen nursed heavy losses after suffering its steepest drop in six months. MSCI broadest index of Asia-Pacific shares outside Japan ticked up 0.1%. Buoyed by the cheaper yen, Japan Nikkei rallied 1.5%. Markets in Australia and New Zealand minted record highs.

US Markets: – The S&P 500 and Nasdaq rose to record closing highs on Wednesday as optimism that China would take more measures to prop up its economy eased concerns about the economic impact of the coronavirus epidemic.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 115.84 points, or 0.4%, to 29,348.03, the S&P 500 gained 15.86 points, or 0.47%, to 3,386.15 and the Nasdaq Composite added 84.44 points, or 0.87%, to 9,817.18.

Kotak Mahindra Bank: –  The lender said the Reserve Bank has granted its final approval for reducing promoters’ stake in the bank to 26 percent.

Vodafone Idea: –  Brickwork Ratings has downgraded the rating on the company’s non-convertible debentures, aggregating to Rs 2,500 crore, from ‘BWR BBB-‘ to ‘BWR BB-‘.

Tata Communications: – HPIL approved allotment and issue of shares to the shareholders of the company in the ratio of 1:1

Aurobindo Pharma: – Gets US FDA Nod For Asthma Drug, Montelukast Sodium (40 Mg)
